The basic rules for Vastu: how to choose site and rules for kitchen

«The basic rules for Vastu are described in Vastu Shastra:
1). The choice of a site for building.
The main 4 rules:
  1. properly oriented land is the main principle of Vastu. The northeastern sector (head of Vastu-purusha) should be lower, and the southwestern (legs) higher, so the land should slope down to the North and East. The next basic principle is that the water should be closer to the head of the Vastu Purusha and the site should be aligned to the cardinal points of world.
  2. the correct shape of the land (square and rectangle). If rectangular, then its width should refer to the length, like 1 to 1.25or 1.5.
  3. quiet place – Do not buy a land plot located between two other sites, if its area is less than plots of your neighbors.
  4. checking the soil for suitability for construction – “Brikhat Samhita” states that the soil should be soft, pleasant to smell and taste, and without internal voids.
In ancient texts, special calculation formulas are described for the construction of Vastu prosperous houses. An architect should apply the Ayadi-Shadvarg formula — a formula that guarantees the health, well-being and prosperity of its inhabitants, which allows Vastu-Purusha to be located in the house in the most favorable way. This is a formula of perfect proportions, a combination of 6 formulas: Yoni, Vyaaya, Aaya, Raksha, Vara, Tithi.
2). Kitchen.
Rules of the organization of the kitchen:
– Should be in the southeast, as it is under the auspices of a God of fire.
– In the eastern part of the kitchen is equipped with a platform for cooking. The stove is placed so that the hostess cooks food, facing east in the southern sector of the kitchen. The slab must not touch the eastern and southern walls. For this you can use a plinth. Gas should not be opposite the door.
– The sink is located in the northeast corner of the kitchen.
– There may be large windows and fans on the east wall, and small windows on the south wall. Fume hood at the east wall, closer to the southeast corner.
– A door on the north side of the northeast corner or on the west in the northwest corner. (allowed on the east side).
– Shelves are hung on the south and west sides.
– To excite the appetite, the walls are painted in pale pink or pale orange tones.
– The mirror on the eastern wall of the kitchen contributes to the strengthening of the financial situation.
– Drinking water is located in the northeast.
– Brooms, mops and cleaning products – in the north-east.
– Stocks of rice, peas, heavy bags – in the south-west.
– The sewage system should not be in the south-east or south-west.
If it is impossible to place a kitchen in the southeast, then try in the northwest. Next to the kitchen should be a storage room for utensils.
Food needs to be prepared with thoughts about God, mantras and love.
