Things you should know while using concrete
Now a day, concrete is widely use material to build any structure. Column, Beam, Lintel or slab. Here, we are going to share some techniques to use concrete perfectly and you can get your concrete done perectly:
1. Mixing of concrete:
Mixing of concrete should be proper and proportion should be uniform. You can use manual mixing or machine mixing. Manual mixing we can prepare by vintage technique. What normally small contractors are using. Machine mixing can be portable machine or RMC plant. if work is small and not possible to get concrete from RMC plant. You can rent or buy a small mixer. it can be run by diesel run engine or electric motor.
2. Proportion of concrete:
You can prepare Concrete in different proportions. These mixes are M10, M15, M20, M25, and so on. Basic knowledge of use of these mixes. M10 for PCC and other base course work. because it a lean concrete. Lean concrete are M10 and M15. M20 and M25 we can use in column, beams and slab. According to the structural stability.
3. Checklist before placing or pouring concrete:
You should check the shuttering (formwork) alignment & verticality. So that your structure should be properly vertical and aligned. As per design or your requirements. Before placing or pouring concrete apply shuttering oil or some suitable lubrication. For easy removal of shuttering.
4. Good finished Structure:
During placing of concrete. It is mandatory to use proper vibration. For this you can use manual vibration in concrete or vibrating device. This technique will help to you get a finished structure without gaps. Technically it is called honey combing and segregation.
5. Water proofing:
Concrete is permeable 18 – 20%. So we can use liquid water proofing compound. it is very cheaply available in local markets. This process will give us a water proofed structure.
6. Curing & de-shuttering
Curing is very important for concrete. An old saying how much you sprinkle water in concrete, that much it will be strong. But save your structure from excess curing. It can cause dampness in the building as well. Then remove you shuttering and decor your newly or renovated concrete structure.
