Vastu & Feng Shui
What is Main Difference in Vastu & Feng Shui?
Being in this or that room, we experience positive or negative emotions. Often, when we come to visit, we feel the goodwill of the situation, or something annoying and alarming to us, even if it seems that nothing bad happens around us. What does it depend on and what influences our feelings in this or that room? There are two directions, or you can even say the sciences, which teach you to organize space in a harmonious way in order to observe all the laws of the universe and harmonize the inner and the outer. And so consider what it is and how they differ from each other.
Story:
- Vastu: the ancient Indian Vedic teachings about how to create a harmony of primary elements that exist outside and within us. Creating a harmonious space. It will help you to cope with difficulties of life without excessive physical and emotional costs. The word Vastu comes from the root “VAS” meaning to live. Therefore, Vastu is not reduced only to architecture. It is rather the art of life. A person is perceived in unity with the universe and the energy of primary elements. The first mention of Vastu scientists found in such ancient writings as the Rigveda, Atharva veda, etc. (approximately about 6000 or 3000 BC). All the ancient architects were guided by this science in the construction.
- Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art, which literally translates as “winds and waters” based on the Chinese understanding of the dynamic flow of energy through the universe and, like Vastu, seeks to maintain a proper balance between the forces of nature. Feng Shui is based on the concept of emptiness and impersonal energy permeating everything. The origin of Feng Shui dates back to about 25th century AD.
Vastu is considered the progenitor of Feng Shui.
PHILOSOPHY:
There are two main philosophies – personal and impersonal.
“The personal believes that the Creator (God) exists, He is a person, and the whole world is a manifestation of the creative activity of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Vastu is based on this. All Vastu recommendations are given to help a person achieve perfection of life, which is expressed in the understanding of God, his own essence and methods of relationship with Him. Everything we receive is given by God and then goes back to him. Vastu leads to spiritual growth.
– The impersonal considers God as an impersonal idea, or energy, force, considers Him impersonal and devoid of image. This is the base of Feng Shui. He teaches how through the organization of space to direct the flow of energy in such a way as to improve one or another sphere of life of a particular person. Feng Shui is aimed at achieving material prosperity.
DEPTH EXPOSURE:
Vastu considers four levels: physical, karmic, energy, spiritual.
Feng Shui works exclusively on the physical level, slightly affecting the energy level.
SYMBOLS:
Vastu is based on the Vastu-purusha mandala (Vastu-purusha mandala shows the location of the Vastu-purusha – where his head, arms, legs, etc., are responsible for certain qualities of the chakras and having a specific purpose, showing how to properly arrange the rooms in the house so that the flow of prana would be in balance and bring harmony in all spheres of life to the inhabitants of the house.
The basis of Feng Shui is the Bagua grid (an octagon that helps you know which elements of your apartment or house affect certain areas of life – love, health, career, etc.).
